Important Update on Holiday Insurance

We cannot currently offer Holiday Insurance but are hoping this will be resolved very soon. If you are due to travel in the near future please look for alternative, reputable, suppliers such as the Post Office. The following policy information applies to those customers who have already purchased holiday insurance through Caledonian Travel.

We’ve teamed up with specialist insurance provider Towergate Travel to provide a holiday insurance policy designed with you in mind.

Over 90% of all Holiday Insurance claims are for late cancellations due to illness. We strongly advise you take out Holiday insurance on ALL breaks across the UK, Ireland, or Europe to give you peace of mind.

Covid-19 Cover

This holiday insurance policy includes cover if you receive a positive COVID-19 diagnosis within 14-days of your scheduled departure date or and have to cancel your trip. Cover also includes non-UK medical treatment and additional accommodation, repatriation and travel expenses if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 during your trip.

We are delighted to advise that this holiday insurance policy has been extended to include COVID-19 as follows:

What is covered?

  • Cancellation if the policyholder, their close relative, a member of their household or travelling companion(s), as named on the policy, is diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of their scheduled departure date, following a medically approved test showing a positive result for COVID-19.
  • Cancellation if the policyholder is denied boarding on their pre-booked outbound travel because they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms which is confirmed as COVID-19 following a medically approved test showing a positive result.
  • Curtailment if the policyholder’s close relative, as defined in the policy, has died after a medically approved test showing a positive result for COVID-19 or where COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate.
  • The cost of essential emergency medical treatment (non-UK only); emergency accommodation, repatriation and travel expenses; and confinement to holiday accommodation should the policyholder test positive for COVID-19 following a medically approved test showing a positive result during their holiday.

What is not covered?

  • Self-isolation / shielding. The policyholder must have a positive result following a medically approved test.
  • Related claims caused by Government or FCO restrictions, such as further local or nationwide lockdowns / restrictions.

DEMANDS AND NEEDS

This insurance policy will suit the demands and needs of an individual or group (where applicable) who have no excluded pre-existing medical conditions, are travelling in countries included within the policy terms and who wish to insure themselves against unforeseen events detailed in the cover section below. Subject to the terms, conditions and maximum specified claim limits.

COOLING-OFF PERIOD

Examples of these and other conditions and exclusions are contained within the policy wording, a specimen copy of which is available upon request. If after purchasing a policy from us should you find it does not meet your requirements, you have 14 days from the date of receipt of the policy documents or before departure, whichever is less, to cancel the policy and receive a full refund of your premium.

RESIDENCY

The cover under this policy is only available to United Kingdom residents being defined as: Any person who has an address in the United Kingdom, has lived in the United Kingdom for at least 6 of the last 12 months, and is registered with a General Practitioner in the United Kingdom.
